Cali Mykonos

The invisible balance of matter and light

On the east coast of Mykonos, where the cliffs plunge into the sapphire shades of the Aegean, stands Cali Mykonos, a resort carved into the rock, built with respect for the morphology of the terrain and the Cycladic heritage. Local stone, precious marble, white volumes: an architecture that does not seek attention, but inevitably captures it.

The lighting design, signed by PROLIGHT (Gold Lighting Design Award 2023), followed a precise philosophy: light must never overpower architecture. It must become the breath.

The route

A discreet guide in the landscape

Cali Mykonos unfolds like a hilly village, a succession of volumes and paths carved into the stone. Along the external stairways leading to the 40 suites and villas, Piega 80 guides the guest with extreme discretion.

By day it disappears. At sunset it reveals itself: precise cuts of light, integrated in the stone, transform each step into a sculptural detail.

Private terraces

The luxury of the unseen

Under the pergolas that shade the terraces of the suites, light becomes minute and silent. Micro - compact projector, recessed optics, flush glass, zero glare - disappears into the architecture, letting materials, furnishings and atmosphere do the talking.

It is the most difficult balance to achieve, and perhaps the most precious: that between technique and beauty, between presence and discretion.

The infinite pool

Where light meets the horizon

The beating heart of the resort is the spectacular 110-metre infinity pool, which seems to merge directly with the sea horizon. In this area, light has to measure itself against the force of nature and the materiality of the elements:

  • Piega 140 traces the paths of the pool area with a sculptural and minimal presence, blending into the marble surfaces without altering their purity.
  • Tono i IP67, on the other hand, works on the surrounding rock formations: precision optics mould the shadows on the stone, transforming the natural walls into living scenic backdrops.
