Focus Finishes

Finishes that shape the light

In lighting design, the finish is not a minor detail. It is a choice that defines the character of the luminaire, determines its longevity and interacts with the surrounding architecture. For this reason, at DGA, finishes are incorporated into the development process of every product right from the earliest stages.

With over 40 years’ experience in the architectural lighting sector, DGA has developed a range of surface treatments designed to meet the aesthetic and technical requirements of lighting designers and architects, particularly for outdoor applications and complex environments.

Powder coating: colour, durability, sustainability

Powder coating is one of the most versatile solutions for architectural lighting. Solvent-free and with a low environmental impact, it ensures uniform surfaces, good anti-corrosion properties and colour stability over time.

Thanks to electrostatic application, this technology allows for a wide range of colours and textures to be explored, from the most textured neutrals to the boldest shades. It is an ideal choice for projects requiring reliability, durability and visual consistency over time.

PVD: high-quality finishes for contemporary lighting

PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) treatment combines technology with aesthetic appeal. Carried out in a vacuum environment, without the use of water or toxic substances, it produces hard-wearing and long-lasting coatings.

DGA’s PVD finishes, ranging from satin to gloss, enhance the luminaire as an architectural feature: deep, contemporary surfaces, designed for high-end settings.

Anodic oxidation: protection that becomes design

Anodic oxidation of aluminium combines protection with aesthetic appeal. Through an electrochemical process, the surface of the material is transformed into a layer that is resistant to the elements and wear and tear.

Silver, black, bronze, champagne gold, titanium: the range of colours available allows for different interpretations of the design, whilst maintaining consistent standards of durability. A solution suitable for outdoor applications and exposed environments.

Chrome plating and nickel plating: brilliance and technical performance

Among electroplating processes, chrome plating and nickel plating remain the go-to choices when high durability and a striking visual impact are required. Chrome plating guarantees a high gloss finish and protection against corrosion and abrasion; nickel plating offers an elegant and technical finish, available in various shades and thicknesses. Two solutions designed for those seeking a balance between performance and aesthetic detail.

Integrated manufacturing: material as a design language

Machining from solid bar stock is one of DGA’s distinctive areas of expertise. Each luminaire is created through a chip-removal process that brings out the best in materials such as aluminium, brass and AISI 316L stainless steel, all of which are machined entirely within our in-house production facilities.

Solid brass, passivated steel, brushed surfaces or finishes left to develop over time: the material itself becomes part of the design narrative, with a robust and authentic aesthetic.

Customised finishes, bespoke designs

Thanks to its in-house production model, DGA can develop special finishes and bespoke variants on request. Each finish is designed to stand the test of time and complement the architecture, enhancing the light through surfaces that are consistent with the project’s identity.
